XP Embedded Windows CE vs. Windows Mobile vs.

by lilibell 5. April 2011 09:49

Windows XPe: A shortened version of Windows XP for mobile devices, such as a kiosk or ATM. Feature Pack 2007 version is the latest update for this system. It consists of 12 000 components chosen by the developer (as a layman) and the minimum size you can have is 40MB. It is designed for the x86 architecture and supports almost the same software and hardware than XP.

Windows Embedded CE: This is a different version of Windows designed for mobile devices only (componetizada well) and built from scratch for this purpose. It is smaller than XP Embeded coming to have at least 300KB (40MB vs XPe) and 700 components can be chosen (as a layman too). The release 5 was the one that has so far been included in various devices such as thin clients, medical equipment, digital cameras, VOIP phones and other, with version 6, announces the launch of a new generation (including a new kernel that would be the 3rd ) of specialized versions of CE. It is designed for different x86 architectures as well as ARM, MIPS.

One can take EC and adjusted to a specific platform. An example is the EC-specific version for mobile phones and PDAs called Windows Mobile is developed by Microsoft that turns specific phones / PDAs and adjusts to different hardware. Windows Mobile is twofold: to smartphones (which seem to have advanced phone and PDA) and Pocket PC (which seem PDA but they are also phones and have a touch screen).

The latest version is Windows Mobile 5 (aka Magneto) Service Pack 2 (which includes functionality "type blackberry to check email) and is working to soon release a new version is still known by its codename Crossbow

Another example of a specialized version of CE is Windows Automotive is a platform for car systems.

Internet Explorer vs Firefox

by lilibell 25. March 2011 17:19

• Customization: Firefox has a capacity of almost complete customization, from its accessories, issues and applications can create an interface completely according to your preferences and needs. On the other hand, Internet Explorer, despite having certain downloadable applications, supports a much smaller number, not to mention that some of these supplements may be harmful to your operating system.

The range of options offered by Firefox are almost endless and growing every day, in the catalog there are solutions to any subject and download it, appearance, entertainment, web development, social networks and so on.
• Firefox is Open Source: Internet Explorer is developed by Microsoft Corporation, any error in coding or security must be resolved directly by the team of this organization. Firefox on the other side is open source, so that millions of users will be able to enhance browser functionality fixing bugs and implementing new effective solutions.

It was thanks to their quality of Open Source that have generated important programs such as Thunderbird and Fire FTP. That is, in theory, the greatest benefit of Firefox over Internet Explorer, collaboration of users worldwide.

• Charge Rate: Is it true that Firefox is optimized for Linux while Explorer is optimized for Microsoft, but in Firefox operating system is much faster to load JavaScript, CSS styles and intricate pages. In a more normal level also wins the effectiveness of Firefox, official tests have shown that the average page takes to load in Firefox 1.5 seconds to 6.7 seconds in Explorer.

• Security and Vulnerability: Internet Explorer is located directly in the operating system, does that mean? Any virus or malware (malicious software) that you access via Internet Explorer, absolutely you can access your operating system and damage anything inside your computer. Firefox is a browser installation, making it much safer for the information stored on your hard drive.

Moreover, thanks to the quality Open Source Firefox has managed to develop and deploy applications for the defense of your browser, just the ability to block ads or download software to filter prevents your computer, not to mention that there is a section of "Security and Privacy" with 600 strong elements in the catalog of accessories for Firefox.

• Compatibility: Web developers usually work in a standardized way, Firefox, like Opera, Safari and most Web browsers, is compatible with this standard. However, Internet Explorer does not accept a performance under common rules of programming, especially when dealing with CSS. Therefore, it is more likely that a page is displayed poor visual features in Explorer while in the other browser is displayed in a neat and appropriate.

Testing Chrome vs Firefox vs Opera

by lilibell 25. March 2011 14:14

Surely the next time we ask what is the safest browser? us think twice before saying Firefox. Although this does not mean that Firefox is a bad browser, indeed, is my preferred browser. Hopefully the Mozilla team is responsible for improving these aspects in future versions 3.6.2 and 3.7. In Opera and Chrome, they can not say much, just congratulate them for the great development that are done with the Mozilla browsers and give them a pat on the back asking that future versions will improve areas such as safety and appearance (although Persons so far has revolutionized the world of designs / themes) and to implement and a damn HTML5 standard time ... (this goes for all Chrome, Firefox and Opera ...)

Addons extensions Firefox vs Google Chrome

by lilibell 25. March 2011 14:12

Since Google Chrome Blog announced the launch of extensions to the browser that people keep wondering if this move is to a kill or not to Firefox.

Well, many of us truly love Firefox and not going to change anything, but to be less passionate and guided more by the hard facts, here's a brief and concise comparative extents of both.
Except for a couple of specific issues, one of which is temporary and the other is a questionable benefit because the automatic update can not be very cool but for security reasons is fine (Chrome can remotely delete any extension that is reported as dangerous to the user), Firefox seems to lose ...

But that goes for most users 'standards' and not for everyone. Those who really we are getting the juice we have a million more addons (okay, just for now) but not to mention the programmers / designers who make real magic with the Web Developer Toolbar or Firebug.

Firefox vs. Windows Mobile

by lilibell 25. March 2011 10:10

Mozilla has informed us briefly detained indefinitely the development of Firefox for Windows Mobile.

The reason is that Microsoft will manage the web browsing on Windows Phone 7 Series only with Internet Explorer, go to disappointment, and give to your Internet Explorer that is bad, but good.

Google Chrome vs Firefox vs Opera vs Internet Explorer

by lilibell 25. March 2011 10:08

One of the advantages of Chrome is that each tab runs independently, so if one is labeled, not the whole browser crashes.

The tests were performed on an Athlon 64 X2, 2GB of RAM and Vista x86.

The first test was how long it takes to load the browser.

IE: 1 second

Firefox: 2 seconds

Opera: 3 seconds

Chrome: 1 second

The second test consisted of JavaScript engines. The navigators had to contend with a Script, IE unfortunately he could not run.

IE: no data

Firefox: 3.6 s

Opera: 5.7 s

Chrome: 0.3 s (yeah, okay)

And finally, most importantly for me, and all we have short memories.

The memory consumption of browsers, with 5 tabs at startup.

IE: 60 MB

Firefox: 64.4 MB

Chrome: 74.4 MB

Opera: 52.2 MB

After about 10 minutes of use.

IE: 96 MB

Firefox: 109.8 MB

Chrome: 84.1 MB

Opera: 96.6 MB

This shows that the little one created by Google, at least for now, outperforms the most popular browsers, excluding Safari, and so this means that not tested in all fields.
